Jakarta-born French singer-songwriter ...
Anggun C. Sasmi says she
will always be an Indonesian despite the fact that she will
represent France at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest on May 26.
Anggun,
38, told Antara news agency late on Sunday that she had never forgotten
her roots, saying that she was still “made in Indonesia”.
“I’m still an Indonesian, my only goal right now at the contest is to win it,” she said.
She
added that her song, ‘You and I’, which was featured in her last album
Echo, would compete with other songs at the annual event.
“Basically,
the song is about the essence of life—the relationship between two
people. Even though sometimes people live glamorously, that essence of
life— that relationship gives meaning to our life,” she said.
The festival will be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
