ANGGUN - PRESS RELEASE // ECHO (YOU AND I)

There will be an exclusive preview of Anggun’s song that has been chosen to represent France at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest at the MIDEM on 29th January. It will be available to listen to exclusively on the france3.fr website from 4 p.m. the same day.

French national TV broadcaster France 3 and Warner Music France have teamed up with The French Music Office to give an exclusive preview of ‘Echo (You and I)’, France’s eagerly awaited entry for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be broadcast live at 8.35 pm on 26th May on France 3. The track will then be available live and exclusive from 4 p.m. for the general public to listen on the france3.fr homepage.
‘Echo (You and I)’ was written by Anggun and William Rousseau to music by Jean-Pierre Pilot, who has already contributed to many successes including the current #1 seller of this week’s France singles sales charts. The track was mixed by Veronique Ferraro, who mixes regularly for David Guetta. ‘Echo (You and I)’ is an up-tempo track that will appeal to everyone, with an irresistible gimmick that stays with you from the very first listen and will be a nailed-on hit all over Europe. Having shot to fame in many countries, Anggun will embark on a promotional tour that will take her to more than 15 countries from Portugal to Sweden and Italy, finishing up under the best possible auspices in Baku in Azerbaijan on 26th May for what is indisputably the European musical event of the year.

Already a star in Asia, Anggun was a shade under 20 when she left fame and her mother country, Indonesia, behind to further her international career. She settled in France, fell in love with its culture and language and began working with some renowned producers. Together they created the single ‘Snow on the Sahara’, which was a huge hit in 1998 and released in over 35 countries around the world. Ever since, Anggun has been a figurehead of French musical exports. Anggun became a French citizen about ten years ago and received the prestigious title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres as well as being named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador on issues of hunger and food security.

‘Echo (You and I)’ will be included on a special edition of the album ‘Echos’, to be released March 26. The single will be available on all legal digital platforms on Jan. 30.
