Anggun speech while attending the Opening of the Global South-South Development Expo 2011, 5 December 2011 - FAO, Rome, Italy

Rome, December 5th, 2011
Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen.
I am very honored to be with you today on the occasion of this important gathering to mark a strong commitments to South-South Coorporation and in innovative strategies to promote economic development and well being for all.
I am a singer and songwriter, but, today I am honored to represent all the Goodwill Ambassadors not only for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, but also all the United Nations Goodwill Ambassadors.
Adding my voice to global call for action to end extreme poverty, hunger, and disease.
Now, South-South Coorporation is not an option, but an imperative to compliment North-South Coorporation in order to contribute to the achievement of the internationally agreed development goals including and above all the Millennium Development Goals.
South-South Coorporation is needed today more than ever. No single country even the most advanced among developing countries has much hope of reaching individually expected growths and development targets or influencing the outcomes of world’s summits. But collectively, our countries can play a more effective role in achieving a development objectives and then shaping the international agenda on issues of critical importance for our future.
Now, I come from the south, my country Indonesia is rich both in natural and human resources in though with unique biodiversity and cultural treasures. But unfortunately, this often big term of natural calamities, forest fires, landslides, tsunami, and extreme weather conditions.
Less than optimal economic performance by the public and private sector and unsustainable use of natural resources such as illegal logging, innovation to use and business practices all conspire to slow down the potential for spectacular economic growth. At the same time we have highly trained and experience expert who are. In addition to their work at home are ready and willing to bring their expertise to other developing countries.
So, Indonesia is ready to play its part in the context of South-South Corporation.
In today’s modern world, many well clothed and well fed people take their easy access to consumer booths and food for granted. There is, however, another world for nothing is easy and nothing is taking for granted. Almost one billion people suffer from hunger today. No breakfasts, no snacks, no lunches, no five o’clock tea with the best goods, and no dinners.
Maybe some boiled leaves, cassava, and some bananas, barely sufficient to survive, drastically insufficient for children to grow, to have the energy to go to school and learn, drastically, insufficient for grown-ups to go to work and take care for the families.
FAO estimates that one child dies of hunger every six seconds. Twenty children will have died of hunger during determinate of my brief statement. Is this really the world we want to have? Is this the world we want to our children to inherit? That is no my way of thinking.
We can and we must ensure that all possible action is taken by governance, by civilized society, and by all those in position to help, so that the hungry are not forgotten for they are given the chance to live in a decent life as full members of our extended family.
This why I stand here as Goodwill Ambassador of an organization whose mission is to defeat hunger and extreme poverty because we cannot remain indifferent and inactive when we know that children born in a poor country today will die many years earlier then a child born in a wealthy one.
And where thousand of people die unnecessarily every day.
Millennium Development Goals number one is to half the proportion of people whose income is less than USD$1 per day by 2011. To half by that date the proportion of people whose suffer from hunger.
Meeting this goal is everyone’s business achieving this goal will put us all on a fast track to a world that is more stable, more adjusted, and more secure.
On this opening ceremony of the Global South-South Cooparation Expo let‘s resolve to through expand our network of solidarity as the Millennium Development Goals target date of 2015 approaches. And as we work on the even longer horizon of building a more peaceful, prosperous, and incredible world for all.
You know, on May 2012 I will be representing France at The Eurovision Song Contest and naturally I will use the spotlight given to me to of course bring a awareness about the world of hunger. Because together we can achieve these strings our wildest dreams,  a world free of poverty and hunger in which all have a chance to lead the a decent life. All have opportunities for personal advancement through education personal advisement to and enjoying responsibly the world’s natural resources today while protecting and preserving them for future generation.
South-South Corporation is a critical component in this global effort, so please help me spread the world
Thank you.

And it seems there Anggun also recite a song, but I do not know what that song but his usual song is a song who sung Snow on the sahara.
